Congratulations to Michael Shreve for his nomination by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Awards for his translation of "Suicide of the World," by Andre Saglio. Shreve's translation was published in the science fiction anthology, The Last Man Anthology this past fall. The collection is a tribute to Mary Shelley and her novel, The Last Man. All the stories deal with the "last" of something. I was the editor for the collection and remember this story as being one of the first I chose to be included. It's a thinking story and provocative, considering it was written a long time ago, and is still current. It also allowed me to become familiar with Saglio's work and career.
The Science Fiction and Fantasy Awards are administered by the Association for the Recognition of Excellence in SF & F Translation, California public benefit (non-profit) corporation. The Board of Directors include:
